Q.

Is my baby asthmatic

My baby developed pneumonia a day after he was born. Am asthmatic, but was healthy throughout my pregnancy and hardly used the medication (I use "Asthavent" for the asthma).

He is now almost 4 months old but has had a constant congested nose that does not seem to get better. It does not interfere with his feeding or sleeping (except at night).

Is it possible that he inherited asthma from me?

Allergic conditions have a strong genetic (inheritable) component, but it is highly unlikely that the symptoms you describe at present are due to allergy. Only time will tell and as it does not interfere with your baby's feeding etc. my advice would be to wait and see.
