Q.

Intoducing solids

My LO is now 5 mnths old and weighs 8.5kg. I tried feeding him cereal this week which he seemed to enjoy for 2 feeds ( i fed him once a day). After that he did not want to know a thing about solids as I tried buttenut after he refused the cereal. Should I wait a bit? How do I go about introducing solids when he is ready? Is there a guideline?

You need not be in any hurry with his solids. Starting off with the cereal is the right way to go and perhaps a little apple or pear as well. When he seems ready try and introduce other foods such as butternut.Remember that at his age his milk is his main source of nutrition. His weight is above the average for his age, so he is doing very well.
