Dear Doctor

My son has had a Post-Nasal drip and been on celestamine 2.5ml per day for first 3 days (in error), 5 ml a day for the last 2 days. The correct prescription was for 5ml a day for 5 days.

This morning he seems to have come down with a bad head cold - no fever yet - but copious clear fluid from his nose and sneezing. He woke up a while ago crying because he was choking on mouthfuls of clear fluid from his nose. To settle him I gave him just under 1/2 tsp of Coryx. On reflection I realised the Coryx and Celestamine (which was given 2 hours earlier) may interact.

Please recommend how to proceed with the celestamine and if the coryx once off is OK. My sons Adenoids were removed in June and grommets inserted - after his first ear infection turned into glue ear.

We'd be grateful for any advice.

The dose of Celestamine is slightly high but will not cause any problems. Do not use this with the Coryx, in fact don't use the Coryx at all. Complete the Celestamine course. Use saline nose drops to clear your son's runny nose.
By the way all the symptoms seem to be due to a cold, why use any medicines other than the saline nose drops?
