Good day
My little daughter is turning 8 March and we are having a problem with her from we got back from vacation, that she cant sleep at night, and is awake about 7-10 times a night, and then claims to be frigtened and refuse to sleep in her room, what can we do, because nobody in the house gets a nights sleep and her brother of 3 sleeps alone in his bed and have no problems?
Thank you

Something must be worrying your daughter for her to behave in this way and to be unable to sleep. Has she had a bad experience lately or did something frighten her while she was away on holiday? Sedatives are not recommended for children as they usually cause side effects. You can try giving Rescue Remedy to your daughter before bedtime. If this does not work then she may benefit from taking a safe natural hormone called Melatonin, one 3mg tablet half an hour before bedtime. Put a nightlight in her bedroom. If her insomnia continues she should be seen by a child psychologist.
