Q.

Hurt chin

Dear doc
My son has hit his chin quite hard against a metal panel. the chin is hurt and there was some bleeding from his lips/mouth. It has since stopped but do I need an x-ray to confirm if there is anything wrong. Or if there is any damage to his jawline or teeth
please advice?

Most times children recover very rapidly from an injury like this and it is not necessary to do any Xrays. Most of the bleeding usually occurs from biting the lips or the tongue due to the fall. As long as the bleeding has stopped and your son does not appear to be in pain and does not have any loose teeth, he should recover by himself. If you are at all concerned about him please take him to your doctor.
