How important is crawling on all 4''s?

Hi Doc

My baby is 10 months old. She has always hated being on her tummy and when I put her on her tummy to encourage her to crawl she rolls onto her back.

She has only recently began to " bum crawl"  she slides around the house on her bum. And last night when I held her up she took a step towards me on her own (no support). She loves walking and she holds my hands and walks around the house. She is very eager.

However, I''m a bit concerned about her crawling on all 4''s. How important is this and is there a way I can help her?

You need not worry. Many babies skip the crawling stage completely and simply learn to start walking quite early. She is doing a form of crawling and is sliding on her bum which is very common. Your baby daughter appears to be quite keen to start walking soon.
