Help! Sleepless nights!

Hi guys,

Please help, I am going out of my mind!

My boy is 21 months old, a week and a half ago I took him off his bottle. During the day is fine without the bottle, doesn''''t look for it. He used to get a feed inthe middle of the night which he longer needs, does he still need that feed though. He eats propperly, a meal, dessert and fresh milk before bed.

Anyway, when he wakes in the middle of the night now he cries and screams and I can''''t control him, he won''''t let me touch him and just carries on screaming. This has been happening for the past week.

Any advise, what is causing this?

It seems quite clear that your son's waking and crying at night is due to him wanting his bottle at that time. He becomes very angry and frustrated when his bottle no longer appears. He still needs about 600ml of milk per day at his age and I note that you do give him milk before he goes to bed. He is not hungry but he is so used to his night bottle that he is in the habit of waking up for his night bottle still. You have two options. either you can give him his bottle at night again which will just postpone the time when he will need to come off it again,or you can go 'cold turkey' and let him cry [using the controlled crying method if necessary] and eventually get him used to the fact that there are no more bottles at night.
