my 3year old has constant postnasal drip, and a wet cough. she is diagnosed with asthma and iron defficiency, which seems to be inherited from me. She also regurarly has severe tummy aches, chest pains, blocked tummy. Mostly her tummy hardens when she eats pasta or Marie biscuits, but sometimes it will happen from eating anything containing starch. With the asmtha she regurly coughs herself to shortness of breath. she eats everything always, except she dislikes milk, meat and bread(anything baked). she is bit big for her age, in both length and weight.

It is very likely that your daughter has asthma and allergic rhinitis [nasal allergy] She may well also have food allergy especially to wheat. She should be seen by a paediatric allergist as soon as possible. She needs to have accurate allergy tests done as well as being started on the correct treatment. You will find paediatric allergists in all the main centres in SA.
