Q.

Head lice

Can someone please advise me if there is any truth in the rumour that lice do not climb on a head that has been dyed? We have a problem that the lice keeps on returning - probably from school - and someone gave the advice to dye the kids hair?

Any help?

The lice will be just as happy on dyed hair. Please ask your pharmacist for an effective treatment.

Do you want to stay lice free or get rid of it?
My mom gave me this idea. To keep them away, put a few drops of citronella oil in the water. Dont put in to much, you only want to get rid of the lice, not family and friends.

I've never heard of that one! My hair is dyed and I got the buggers also when my little one got them from her school. We had to treat the whole house and bedding as well as all our heads. Why don't you talk the the school. I told the headmaster of my toddler's school when we found the lice. I was very disappointed, because they didn't even put a letter out to other parents. I feel they have an obligation to make sure all parents check their kids and treat them immediately if necessary. That is the only way to stop the pests. I know there is a teatree treatment that is very good, that consist of a sjampoo and gel treatment that you can use on an ongoing basis and that also prevents the buggers from climbing on in the first place. I struggled to find it in the chemists and used the Para treatment twice and also twice the Controlice treatment. I also used a special comb to comb out all the nits. Good luck! It took us more than 3 weeks to get ourselves licefree!!
