Hair loss after pregnancy

Hi All,

Long time no-post!

I hope that all the ladies that I used to chat to on this site are doing well with their little ones or growing little ones. Can you believe that my little girl is almost 4 months - she will be on the 3rd Nov! She is an amasing little person!

Just a quick question, is anyone else experiencing hair loss. I never lost any hair during my preganancy - but as soon as she was out, I seem to forever be losing my hair. Apparently this does happen, but really, I think that I should be bald by now due to the amount of hair that falls out in the shower!

Any advice - or anything that I could take to lessen this hair loss? I am still taking Pregnavit as a vitamin while breast feeding. Should this hair loss stop when I finish breast feeding? - is it hormone related?

Please restrict the questions, advice in this forum to children. A temporary increase in hairloss following pregnancy is fairly common and is probably related to hormonal changes.

This is extremely common & "normal".
Pregnancy takes a toll on a woman's body.

This phenomenon is known as "Telogum Efluvium". It usually occurs 2-3months after a bout of stress on the body.

You will shed, but if you eat correctly, you will eventually replace the lost hair after 6wks or so.

I also thought I was going to be bald after I had my baby. I took Vit B Complex and Womens own and extra calsium which seemed to help. No more hairloss! Good luck
