I have a 1 year 7months old little boy,he has most of his teeth l dont think he is teething. he has sollen gum its sollen to such an extent that you cant see some of his teeth what might be the cause. I am taking him to the pediatrician later today but i just want to know, it look strange he doesnt want to eat.

There are several reasons for this, the most common of which is teething. An infection with the herpes virus is another common cause associated with herpes stomatitis or hand foot and mouth diseaese. Other gum infections would be very rare in such a young child. It is also most unlikely that a vitamin C deficiencey is the cause unless your child has been on a very restrictive diet.
