Glandular fever

I took my 3 year old to the doctor yesterday as she had a high fever, and had been complaining about a sore tongue the previous day. She was also lethargic during the course of the day. The dr said that its either just a red pharynx or could be glandular fever, as her glands are quite swollen. How would I be sure of whether or not it could be the glandular fever, and what would the treatment be for that. she has put her on antibiotics in case it is not the glandular fever.
Thank you

If the doctor suspects glandular fever then there are two blood tests should have been done and which give very quick answers as to the diagnosis. There is no treatment as such for glandular fever which is caused by a virus infection and the body itself fights and eventually overcomes this infection. Please ask your doctor to do these tests for glandular fever.
