getting baby to bed!

Hi my baby girl is almost 13 months. Since she was born I have had a schedule for her which I have stuck to. When she turned about 11 months all of a sudden she did not like to sleep in the dark and so I went out and bought a night light which is fine. My question is sometimes she goes down so easily at 7pm and some times she really throws a tantrum in her cot and throws her toys out - literally. When she screams and carries on must I take her out and let her stay up a ittle later or must I let her scream and scream? What do you think is causing this as sometimes you can clearly see she is tired.

It is difficult to be sure exactly what is causing this change in behaviour, but it is common for children to go through periods like this. The problem is that if you let her stay up longer or take her out of her cot, she will get used to this new routine and even start playing up more. It is probably best to apply the controlled crying method here with you leaving her to cry for longer and longer periods before going to her. It is hard on the nerves and takes a lot of determination , but she will tire herself out and eventually go to sleep.
