German Measles

My 6yr old developed a rash soon after swimming in our swimming pool. The chlorine is slightly high and so we thought it may be an allergic reaction. However she mentioned that someone in her class has German measles. She is not sick. Her rash is a fine red/pink rash on her tummy, back, thigh''s, behind her knees and in the crease between upper and lower arm. Do you think this is german measles?

Your daughter most probably was immunised against german measles when she had her MMR at 15 months and her booster at 5 years. This may be a very mild form of german measles although the rash is usually on the face and behind the ears in german measles. An allergic response to cold water is another possibility especially if she is not ill. This is called cold urticaria. This rash responds well to an antihistamine such as Allecet syrup once daily..
