Q.

Formula concern

Good day

My 6 week old boy was born 6 weeks premature. Until 5 weeks I gave him breast milk in a bottle (due to him being in ICU and a bit weak we could not establish breastfeeding). I put him on NAN1 at 5 weeks and he immediately became constipated. After a struggle he now has hard stools in almost every diaper. This seems to be causing him discomfort. He is irritated and I think he might be having stomach cramps. I would like to try another formula but is uncertain how to go about selecting one. Someone suggested SMA.

SMA may not solve this problem.I suggest that you try Novalac IT. You have to give him Novalac Standard alternating every second bottle with Novalac IT for the first 2 days then you continue on Novalac IT alone from then onwards.
