For Ped. Update on "tension in shoulders?" #645

I took my son to his Ped. yesterday. He said that there is a sig of a viral infection because all his glands are swollen (behind his neck, under his arms and in his groin) He then sent him for x-rays as he has a phlemmy cough and Ped. thought it might be something to do with the diaphram that's causing the pain if you pick him up. X-rays were all clear and that ruled out TB. His chest is clear, throat clear, ears clear, perfectly healthy, but there is a sign of infection. So he said that there's nothing he can tell me or give baby. I must just carry on with pain meds. at night and Coryx to clear nose because he snores. I'm to watch him for a week and then if no change we're going to do blood tests. What I don't understand is, where is the pain coming from and what kind of diagnosis did he give me by saying there's a viral infection but I can't find it?? ANy suggestions Ped? It's been a week since I first noticed that he has pain when we pick him up and still no change. But there has been nothng else wrng with him since Wed. No fever etc...
Very worried as he is still a baby :( and goes to creche and I can't be home to look after him. <sigh>

This could certainly be due to a recent viral infection mainly affecting the muscles and causing a condition called myositis. It is reassuring that your baby seems to be improving now and all serious illnesses have been excluded.
