You can start off with a rice or maize cereal and then gradually introduce vegtables and apple and pear. You will find good advice on this website:

I started my boy a few weeks ago. Start slow, rice cereal in the morning for a few days, then slowly intruduce one type every few days, eg afternoons, keeping with the cereal in the morning. The purity has carrot, sweet patato and butternut, very safe. What I have heard is to rather use the frozen beans instead of fresh, something with the gasses. I started with the purity but cook his food myself now. You get the nicest easiest recipies in the baby mags. I cook on the weekend for the whole week. Including his fruit. It is soo much fun and so much more tastier!
