Childhood Diseases

My daughter has been prescribed a Flixotide enhaler as she has asthma due to allergies. She has one puff in the morning and one in the afternoon. This medicine has made a great improvement and I am happy that she is not struggling so much anymore but she seems to be VERY hyperactive and struggling to fall asleep at night. My Paed says that in his experience this can''t be from the flixotide, but I have read on line that it could be. Do you believe flixotide could be the cause? If I just gave her one puff in the morning and not one in the afternoon, would that be ok?

Flixotide is an excellent treatment for asthma in children. It is a cortisone but each puff contains a very low dose of Flixotide and it is very safe.Your daughter is also on a low dose of Flixotide. Flixotide is highly unlikley to cause her to be hyperactive. Is she on any other medicines such as a bronchodilator such as Asthavent or Ventolin as these medicines may cause hyperactivity in some children? There are also other asthma medicines which may cause hyperactive behaviour in some children. Please let me know if she is on any other medicines for her asthma.

I have allergic astmha and I strated on flixotide and cetirizine antihistamine. That made me hyperactive, but when I changed to flixotide, singulair and Aerius, the hyperactiveness whent away and became just streight forward happy:) .

So that could be a solution. Singulair and aerius just a single single pill each morning. You can use tht alone, but i recommend flixotide swell.

Best regards
