Q.

Flat footed

My son is 30 months old. My dad picked up that he is flat footed. Is it possible to detect flat footedness at this age. What can be done to rectify this.

Your son must always wear shoes with good arch supports. This is usual with good quality children's shoes. Also give him exercises to do regulularly. Let him sit on a chair and with his bare feet get him to pick up some pencils which you should scatter on the floor. He must pick these up one at a time and grip the pencil with his toes and pass the pencil to you. Obviously he must exercise both feet. Do this often at least once a day and it will help him a lot.
