Q.

Fever blister

My 6 year old has developed a fever blister. I don’t know who she got it from as neither my husband or I get them. What I would like to know is there any kind of treatment I can get for her that could stop these blisters from reoccurring?

Fever blisters are caused by the Herpes virus and once one has had it the first time it may re-occur whenever your immune system is down. There is no treatment to eradicate the infection, but you may ask your doctor of pharmacist for advice regarding treatment to ameliorate its course. Then treatment needs to be insituted the moment she feels one coming.
