Q.

fever and rash

3 year old son had chickenpox 2 weeks ago and recovered well. He began croupy cough 6 days ago at night. This disappeared in morning and a fever began. As he was limping all that day we had him checked at hospital where they did blood tests and said it was likely to be viral arthrirtis. Next day was walking fine. Fever stayed. Will not eat more than bite or two, but is drinking. Runny nose and bit of cough now and is a bit irritable. Yesterday evening cheeks looked red and this disappeared in 2 hours to leave red spots over face. Doctor checked throat, ears and chest yesterday before rash appeared but found nothing. Any idea what this is or why he's not recovering? Thanks

Paediatrician

This sounds like a condition called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Go back to your paediatrician first thing tomorrow morning and ask if he has cosidered this as the diagnosis or any of the related disorders. If necessary get a second opinion.
