feeding at night " 1st time mom"

Hi Doc. Is''t okay to feed him milk at night? hes not breasfeeding and he wakes up at 12:00 midnigt for 150ml of milk and again at 4:00 am. I heard that it is a bad habit to feed them at night. He is 4months old and a bit above his average weight. I now give him water at 12:00 midnight and milk at 4:am and I''m not sure if i''m doing justice to him?

It will not help to substitute your baby's midnight feed with water. This will not make him feel full and he will simply wake up within a short time being hungry again. Your baby will still need at least one feed at night now so go back to giving him his formula at midnight and hopefully he will sleep through for a bit longer until his next feed in the morning.

For nutritional purposes, babies should be fed milk at night until at least 6 months of age if they are still waking up for feeds then (and most babies still are).
