Hi doc

My baby is now 14 months. Last night i was playin with him and his sister (now 10) on our bed. He wanted to stand up on the bed and fell so hard on the floor and got a big swelling on the front of his head. I am so worried as it not the first time he fell on that part of the head. I took ice to make the swelling go down but it didnt. Its a bit down this morning but is blue. should i take hime to be seen by a doctor, as im so worried.

Thanx doc.

Your baby has had a nasty fall, but as long as he shows no sign of drowsiness and is feeding normally everything should be other sign to look out for is vomiting. if any of thes symptoms starts then you should take your baby to see a doctor.

Hi Liezl,

My son also fell. I was told to look out for nausea/vomiting, lack of appetite, drowsiness, not sleeping or drinking and also if their pupils are enlarged and do not shrink when you go into the light. My 2 year old son has fallen about 10 times and this is apparently normal....

Let us know how your child is.

My little girl did that just last month, i used fastum gel for the swelling and bruising, it works very well for all sorts of bumps and pains always have some in my fridge. The swelling was gone by the second day and the bruising was barely visible after a week. If you would like to give it a try.

If you are unsure of anything take baba to the doc, I didnt as i know the signs of concussion and nothing was broken. I did give her a good pain and fever med that has an inti-inflam in to help with any pain and swellins aswell.

Good luck
