A sticky eye is caused by a discharge, which is usually infection related. If it does not improve you need to see your doctor to consider anti-biotic treatment.

Good Morning

I have a son who is almost a year old, he tends to blink his eyes alot these days, he rubs his eyes lot at night when he is tired I assumed that this is normal for a tired baby. I wear glasses and his dad has 20/20 vision, do I need to worry.

Thank you

She is still a neonate...a very fragile period for both mom & baby.

It sound like a "Purulent Conjunctivitis". Make your appontment with your Paed today...don't take chance with a neonate.

Until you see the doc, get sterile "normal saline" water , dip with a clean cotton & gently wipe eye from the direction of the nose towards th ear. Use one cotton swab per eye. Do this every 4hrs.

But see your doc.
