eye problems

My 4 year old suffers from very painful itchy and red eyes . This happens daily especially when she watches TV or goes outside on a windy day,her eyes become watery and then she strats scratching them - making them worse. Her eyes are not a clear white colour , they are actually a bit brownish and i have to use eye ointment everyday before she sleeps , otherwise when she wakes up her eyes will be swollen or she' ll have dificulty opening them up.
I have been to an eye specialist who recommended eye drops , but things are not getting better. Do you think that she neeeds glasses or what other treatment would be best for her ?

Your little girl has an allergic eye problem known as allergic conjunctivitis. You need to find out what she is causing her eye allergy, so that she can be properly treated. Please take her to see a paediatrician with an interest in allergic condtions in children. There are experts in all the main centres.
