Q.

Eye Allegy

In February My 2 year old son developed an allegy in his left eye .I was so scared,I have never seen anything like that.He Started scratching his eye and being restless, when I looked at the eye,It was red and the white area of the eye was sollen ,something like a jelly substance.I queckly rushed him to an eye specialist in Fordburg. He did some tests and prescribed some drops to use.The test results did`t show anything,He recon maybe it was something in the air or food allegy.I started monitoring his food,One day he ate peanuts and the same reaction happened, then I restricted him from eating peanuts. Now what suprises me is that even if he hasn`t eaten peanuts this allegy still re- ocure.I took him to the same doctor but he can`t find anything wrong in his eye. Please advise me what to do cause this is worrying me.

Concerned Mom.

The eye specialist will be the best person to advise, but it is fairly easy test for the main allergens including peanut with a blood or skin test. I would await these results before giving specific advice. Your paediatrician should be able to assist.

Better you consult with another eye specialist for a second opnion if you are not happy with the diagnosis.

Don't delay.
