Q.

Exhausted after 3am playtimes

Hi

My Baby boy wants to have a playtime at 3 am!! He is only 3 months old and in a fairly good routine. He has 3 short naps during the day and has his bath around 5.30 pm. He is usually off to bed by 7.30pm. I have checked him where he has a feed every 3 - 4 hours - that is only until 3 am.

He wakes up and wants to play at that time of the morning. After tears and screaming I eventually go to his room, keep him company for 10 minutes and get him back off to sleep. This is usually about 4 am. He then only gets up for one feed around 5.30 am and has a dead sleep until 8.

How can I change this pattern as this is extremely exhausting after a long day and night.

Thanks

We have all gone through a period like this and the best advice is to give as little incentive as possible to this routine. If necessary he must be left alone (after you have assured that there are no problems) to return to sleep by himself. There are no easy rules and some sleep deprivation is unfortunately part of parenthood.
