This is a very safe operation which is performed by highly skilled ENT surgeons. There are usually no post operative problems. Enlarged adenoids lead to repeated ear infections in young children as well as breathing problems including sleep apnoea which may be dangerous. Post nasal drip problems may lead to repeated chest infections. If the operation has been recommended for your son, there must be a good reason for this advice.
