Q.

Effects of smoking

Good day,

My sister is pregnant and she smokes abt a packet per day and she uses a filter tip to minimize the tar and nicotine intake (does that even help??). She does eat correctly and cycles.

What will the effect be on the baby and later on as a child (except for low birth weight)?

Thank you.

The most common adverse effect of smoking on the unborn child is the effect on the eventual birthweight. After birth children of mothers who smoke are much more likely to develop respiratory illnesses especially asthma.
