Q.

EAR INFECTION - 7 month old

My baby (7 months) had an ear and throat infection about 2 weeks ago and developed a very itchy rash all over her body. The doctor gave her some antibiotics, ear drops and medicine for cough because she had bronchitis as well. Now what I would like to know is, my baby sometimes hold her ear and I understand from the nanny that she cried yesterday. Does this mean that the infection is not healed yet or should I take her to a paeditrician for thorough check-up? The rash has completely vanished.

Your baby had Roseola or baby measles. She is now getting better and does not need to be seen by a doctor.

I would say have her checked by your paed. The antibiotics probably helped a bit, but when I give my little one antibitiocs and he's not better within five days or so, I take him back! My little one was also fiddling with his ear quite frequently, and eventually when the stuff starting coming out the ear I took him to the paed. He had burst an eardrum, so to make a long story short, he had to have grommets put in his ears.

Good Luck
