Hi, my paediatrician advised me to use Dupholac for my 8 month old baby to help with his constipation. First 3 days is 5ml once a day and then the maintenance dose is 2.5 ml once a day. For how long can I use Dupholac? As soon as I stop giving it to him, he becomes constipated again (sorry to be graphic, but it looks liek a clay pebble). He is on Nan 2 and his constipation started reoundabout the same time he went onto Nan2, so it' s been a couple of weeks already........

You always need to try and find the cause of constipation rather than treating the effects. It seems that the problem with constipoation started when your baby was put onto NAN2. Try her on another formula such as Lactogen2 first and see if the constipation persists. If not Duphalac is a good and safe medicine for constipation and the usual dose is 5ml daily. You will need to give this medicine for at least 2 weeks and possibly longer if needed but under the guidance of your paediatrician.
