It seems that there are two issues here. Firstly the sleep at school which is quite a long nap and secondly his wanting to get into your bed at night. Be careful of stimulating your son at bedtime. He should not be watching exciting TV programmes before bedtime. Keep things quiet and peaceful and read to him before he goes to sleep. Leave a nightlight on in his room. If he comes to your bed quietly lead him back to his bed and stay with him for a while. Do not fight with him about going to sleep-remember to keep things peaceful even if you get annoyed with him. Do not give him mixed messages and always see that his Dad is being as firm with him as you need to be.

I am not sure if this is correct but i have been told that at 4years old there is no more need for them to have day time sleeps unless they need to.I would say he sleeps to much during the day and this is why you battle. Most nursery schools insit on this but i dont think it should be at that age.Maybe I am wrong? My daughter is 5 and stopped her day time sleeps at 4 and she sleeps really well, never climbs into our bed and always goes to bed at 8o'clock. All children are diffrent but it seems to be working for her.
