Q.

Dagga Smoking

Hi, my son is 8yrs old, was diagonised as an Asthmatic since birth, recently new neighbors moved in next door, they smoke dagga, the smell carries across to our house, can this affect my son? Yesterday, we were all complaining of sore eyes and sore throats, not sure if this is because they were smoking (co-incidence?).

Pls Advise.

Dagga smoke is very strong and will definitely affect your child's asthma. I think the other complaints are due to other causes such as a mild viral throat infection for example. In any case you will need to ask the police to visit this family and sort out this problem. If they can't help you could see if there is a social worker in the area who could assist you. If not it is possibly going to mean having to look for somewhere else to live which is very upsetting and very disruptive.
