Hello Prof,
My 16 month old son had a cut on his leg and after one week it began to swell, so I took him to the doc who cut it to drain the pus and prescribed Augmentin SF for 5 days and bactroban to apply. After now what is 3 days, the swelling is gone down a bit but there is still pus in there when i press on it. Pls advise me will the antibiotic dry the pus or how is it suppose to heal because the doc says i must not press it but it is not draining by itself and you can see it is still a bit inflamed around the sore.

The pus does seem to be draining or is now less than before although some still remains and the swelling is going down which is a good sign. The combination of the antibiotic and the Bactroban should deal with the infection. If the wound has not cleared of pus after 5 days your son should be seen again by the doctor.
