There are not many things that cause a baby to cry like this. In fact only hunger and pain would cause this at her age. Are you sure that she is drinking enough milk? If she is formula fed and drinking well it is possible that she may be intolerant of cow's milk and a change to a soya based formula may make all the difference. Another important cause of the kind of symptoms your child is having is reflux. Here the stomach acid causes burning and irritation of the lower part of the oesophagus causing pain.Treatment produces a very rapid improvement in the child's behaviour.
She is not having colic as she never settles and the colic medicines have no effect on her crying and pain.
Go back to your paediatrician and ask if reflux and milk allergy/milk intolerance have been tested for.

You have my sympathies! I could have written your posting word for word a few months ago. Everyone (my first paed, gp and nurses) all said it was colic, but even donatelle did not help. I finally found an excellent paed who diagnosed reflux, presecribed an excellent medicine for my son and that was it - sorted!!! and finally a happy baby that I could enjoy.

Good luck!

I agree with the doctor, she is either in pain or hungry. My baby is allergic to dairy, putting my baby on a soya formula (Isomil) was the end of our problems, I can not explain the difference in her. Some babies (40%) that have an allergy to cow's milk is also allergic to soya but I was lucky she had no reaction to the soya. Goats milk is also an option...

Bennetts Colic remedy and Donatel was what my baby was put on at that age. The buscupan tastes horrible! Have you tasted it? Shame man, I'll keep you in my toughts. I am a mom of a non-sleeping cranky baby. But he's 15months now and it's all in the past. I know what you're going through. At least I had the breast to calm him down. But then I slept with him attached to me as that was the only thing that helped. Good luck.
