HI doc, hope you are well.
My baby is 11 months old. He has been rather unhappy over the weekend, and last night had a fever of 38.3, at around 1. He has the symptoms of croup with the barking cough and chestyness.
I gave him a puff of ventolin, which i use only when it seems necessary, 5ml aspeletone (from the last time he had croup) and some panado. he slept very restlessy until about 4:30 this morning. He was fine by the time I dropped him at creche, but I will leave work early today.
What other treatment can I use at this stage? He did appear to have a sore throat on Sunday, just from observing him swallowing at times.
He is otherwise eating and drinking well, but just been very unhappy since the weekend.
Many thanks - R

Thank you.You have treated your baby's croup well so far. You will need to complete the course of Aspelone 2.5ml once daily for 5 days. You can use the Ventolin puffer through an infant spacer with a facemask twice daily when he has the typical barking cough. If his cough continues it will be best to use a nebuliser and give him Pulmicort nebules twice daily, but you will need a prescription for this treatment.
