Good day Prof

My seven months old daughter had a cold last week, after the cold she has started coughing( in the night and when she just wakes up)the cough is there is mucous on her throut..we will hear the noise first then she will cough to clear it..i havent been given her any med..n when i went to the clinic they said they had no flu or cough medication..she eats well and happy with no fever.

Is there something that i can buy for her..shes on s26 gold at 10kgs.

Your baby had a cold last week. Now she is coughing which means that the virus which caused her cold has now affected her chest. The most likely virus is one known as RSV and her chest infection is probably a mild form of bronchiolitis.Importantly you say that your baby is not distressed and has no fever. She should get better by herself after a week to 10 days. In the meantime the most important thing you should do is to keep her nose clear by using Salex nose drops twice daily.
