Dear Doc,

My 7 weeks old little girl has been suffering from cramps and had rash on her face. Her Paed said she had Sebhorrea and prescribed some medication which work but the rash started again after a few days she stopped the treatment, but this rash is different from what she had before. She wasnt sleeping well, was cramping a lot and very gassy.

Her Paed then suggested we cahnge her formula from Nan 1 to Infasoy or Isomil as she seems to be lactose intolerant. From Thursday last week, she started taking Infasoy and she stopped cramping and being gas and she sleeps very well, however, the problem is now she is constipated. She cannot pass stools, if she does they are small and hard. She really struggles. Its been 4 days on Infasoy. Is there anything we can give her to help with the constipation? Or we need to change her formula? to which formula?

Many thanks,

This is not an easy problem as it is not clear whether your baby is allergic to milk or is lactose intolerant. Both of these conditions would improve on a soya formula. Your baby cannot continue on a soya formula as she is struggling with constipation. Try her on a low allergy formula first such as NAN HA. If she becomes windy again and colicky then change her to a lactose free formula such as NAN LF.

Can I use Infasoy for my baby even though he's not lactose intolerant or allergic to milk? But I changed from S26 to Infasoy because of the constipation problem he had.
