Q.

Constipation on Formula Fed baby

Hi,
How many stools should a newborn baby pass (8-16 days old). My son is formula fed and is drinking between 75-100ml 4 hourly (8 daysold) but has not passed a stool in 24 hours.
When he does, it is not hard nor does he seem constipated, but he was passing a stool every nappy change almost until yesterday.
Is this normal

Thanks

Babies may sometimes skip a day. Constipation will not be a concern as long as they are feeding well, the stool consistency is soft and they do not strain when passing stools.

My daughter was bottle fed too and only had a stool every second day or so.
