Q.

Constipation 8 months old

Hi all...
I have heard that giving duphulac syrup is fairly safe to relieve constipation in babies and children, but what I would like to know is,is it habit-forming and will it prevent a baby/child from having normal stools on their own?
I was told by my doc that it's perfectly safe to use on a daily basis indefinately, even up to three times a day (5ml at a time).
Is this true?
Thanx very much !!

Duphalac is not habit forming and is safe, but it is important to remember that constipation should only be a transient problem. Once you establish your child on a healthy balanced diet there should be no need for it and therefore children should not have to stay on duphalac for a prolonged period of time (unless there is a specific problem).
