Hi Dr

my daughter is 1 year 1 month, she suffers from constipation.
she passes stools every second day but when she passes stools she literary breaks out in a sweat and is in tears.
i''ve tried giving her Duphalac (2.5mls) buts it doesn’ t seem to be working
she is a bad eater but she does eventually eat her food. I try and give her lots of liquids, prune juice, water, etc but how much should she be drinking a day? Maybe its too little.
I was giving her vidaylin but I’ ve stopped it for a while…  still no change
What should I do?

Your daughter needs at least 1100ml of fluid per day. She should be drinking water and can also have diluted fruit juice once a day. She should eat as much fruit as she wants to eat as well as eating fibre rich food such as Weetbix.Increase the dose of her Duphalac to 5ml once daily.
