Q.

CONSTIPATION

My 7wk old daughter is on Nan and expressed breast milk. She has recently started suffering from constipation. I was told to give her 2,5ml of liquid parafin twice daily but it does not seem to be helping. What is causing the constipation and what can I do to prevent this? I am mixing her Nan according to instructions.

The problem probably lies with the formula you are using, not your breast milk. Please stop the NAN and either change to Lactogen1 or preferably the new Novalac anti-constipation formula. Stop using Liquid Paraffin.

My almost 3 month old baby girl is constipated. She is on Lactogen formula and I' m no longer breastfeeding (from 6 weeks as she wasn' t picking up enough weight). She is picking up weight at a healthy pase, I need to know why she is constipated most the time and what do I need to do to help her. I' ve been giving her rooibos tea with brown sugar, which doesn' t really seem to help. Could it be the formula, and if it is, what should I change it to?
