Q.

Constipated on cow's milk?

My baby just turned 1 and his paediatric said that I could give him cow's milk. He seemed fine for the first 2 days but now he is very constipated and doesn't want to eat. Is it the cow's milk? I've given him some prunes, which helped but Í don't think that I sould give it to him for the rest of his life. He doesn't want to drink water or juice. Any other suggestions?

This could be due to cow's milk. You may need to go back to his original formula for a while. See that he takes enough fluid and gets fibre and fruit in his diet.

What kind of cows milk do you give him? My baby got also very constipated on cows milk, but especially the UHT milk in the boxes. I noticed that as soon as I gave it to her she was constipated the next day. I now only give fresh Clover milk. You can also try to put a few drops of sweet oil or olive oil in his bottles. That helped for me and I also kept Duphulac syrup in my medicine cabinet for when the constipation got too bad. It is not a laxative and only softens the stools.
