Hi doc, My boy suffered from constipation at birht. He was on NAN Pelargon until recently I changed to Isomil. He''s been on the Isomil for about a month now. He suffers from constipation frequently and has exess mucus as well (nose and chest). He is now 9mths and went for his vaccine yesterday. The Sr told me to give him something like Alecet for allergies and change his formula to Similac (because of the mucus). And she said the soya milk tastes really bad - i don''t think my son likes it because he is not drinking his milk like he used to. But might also be because he is constipated at the moment.
Yesterday and today he is really struggling with contstipation - no changes in his diet, except for the formula. I had to put him in a bath with hot water and that helped him with the constipation. Please help me. What can I do? I don''t wnat to change forumula if it''s going to make the constipation worse. Do you think I should change to Similac. I will start adding Rooibos and Prunes to his diet now, he is only having water and prune juice at the moment in between.

It is a good idea to take your son off the soya formula as this formula seems to be aggravating his constipation. He also appears to have developed an allergy to the soya formula so changing to NAN HA is advised. This will be a cheaper option. You can ask your pharmacist for 2 infant glycerine suppositories.Use one a day for 2 days to help your son get over his present problems with constipation. It will also help to give him Allecet syrup 2.5ml at night only to help with his allergies.
