Constipation can be difficult to deal with in young infants.I presume that you have tried the simple 'trick' of adding a half a teaspoon of sugar to each bottle. Also see if he will take a little plain water or diluted fruit juice in between his formula feeds. If this does not help the best choice would be to put him on a stool softener but paediatricians are often reluctant to start this at your baby's age. In any case the best next move would be for you to consult your paediatrician about this constipation problem as your son may have a small anal tear which causes him to be reluctant to pass stools or some other reason for his constipation.
