Q.

Constapation in infants

Hi Doc,

My son (9 wks,5days) has been suffering from constipation this past week. He used to be exclusively on breastmilk, but I tried him on Nan HA last week and after 3 days was not producing a poo nappy. I used a glyserine suppository and he did have a movement then, however, he has not done so in the last 2 days.

What can I give him to assist him? Can I give him milk of magnesia?

Don't give him any milk of magnesia. It seems as if the NAN HA is too constipating for him. Why is he on NAN HA? Is he allergic to milk? If he is not allergic to milk then a good formula for him is Novalac IT. Please note that it must be the IT variety.
