Q.

Constant screaming after bronchiolitis

My child was discharged from hopsital 4 days ago, eversince he has been screaming constantly and taking in more than 250ml of juice inbetween feeds. With his feeds he takes in +- 150ml every 4 hours, he is now 16 weeks of age. His temperature under his arm is always in the region of 35-36 degrees. What else could we be looking for? His has some diarheea every now again eversince discharge from hospital. No vomiting. There was a child with ROTA virus in his ward before they isolated him after confirmed tests. The sisters in the ward did not always practice good hygiene between patients while that child was in the ward with him.

He seems to have been very frightened by his hospitalisation although he is so young. He seems to have developed a separation anxiety. Reassure him, remain very calm and give him lots of love.

Please take your baby to the hospital again! I lost my baby to bronchiolitus a few months ago. He had just had his 10 week injections and died the next day. The doctors said he had caught it that day and was not strong enough to fight it even though he was 10/10 on the test.Strange?
