Constant cough

My 2yr 4mth old started nursery school a month ago and has had a constant rattling cough. This morning his nose bled slightly. The doctor prescribed Orelox 3 weeks ago and I did not see any difference. I am currently using Salex nose spray, Dimetapp and a vitamin syrup.

Please advise if there is anything further I can use as he is really feeling grotty.

Thank you for your time.

Your son may have a viral upper respiratory infection as well as a chest infection called bronchiolitis.Antibiotics will not be of benefit as you have seen already. Use Salex nose drops twice a day, stop the Dimetapp and the vitamins. This may be the start of a cycle of repeated infections due to his being at a nursery school. He should get better by himself after about 10 days. It would be a good idea to boost his immunity with daily probiotics and also the use of Viral Choice Junior.
