Q.

Constant cough

My daughter is 11 months old and has been sick since the start of winter. We are constantly nebulising her with combivent and she has been on antibiotics three times. She developed broncho-pnemonia and was on antibiotics with nebulising to clear that up. She was well for two weeks and has now starting coughing again. We have nebulised her for five days now and she is still coughing.

She appears to be getting recurent episodes of viral chest infections. This affects many infants and young children especially during the winter months. The illness affects the child for up to 3 weeks at a time.Antibiotics are ineffective here. Give your baby Reuteri infant drops 1ml daily for 10 days to incresase her resistence to infections. Use infant saline nose drops twice daily to keep her nose clear and nebulise twice daily with Combivent.

My 3 year old has also been coughing since May this year. We have identified allergy to mould and egg white that has been giving him post nasal drip. (According to specialist the reason for his coughing) but still to date non stop coughing. Also been nebulising since May. Good luck to you, i hope that all of us find the cure for this constant couging.
