Constant Constipaton

My son is 3 and continuosly holds in his poo which makes him constipated all the time. He doesnt want to use the toilet or the potty and when he does go its in the shower and extremely sore. I have started giving him herbal life in this week and it seems to be forcing him to go more often but he continuously has skid marks and tries to keep it in. I am worried that he is messing up his system - what can i do???

Your son's habit of keeping his stools in will lead him to become more and more constipated. It will help to give him a stool softener for a while.Try Duphalac solution. The dose is 5ml twice daily. A 10 to 14 day course should help. He will find out that his stools no longer hurt him because the are not hard. Make sure that his diet is high in fruit and fibre and that he drinks water.
